    Barbara A. Garand

    BARRE ó Barbara Ann Garand, 58, of Washington Apartments, passed away peacefully at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday morning, April 30, 2013.

    Born in Northfield on May 23, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Wendell and Elizabeth (Farnsworth) Labor.

    Barbara was a 1973 graduate of U-32 High School, and then remained happy and busy as a homemaker and raising her son, Nicholas. She later went to work in production at Redi-Plastics in East Montpelier and GW Plastics in Bethel, before becoming a licensed nursing assistant at Rowan Court Nursing Home and more recently Mayo Healthcare in Northfield.

    In her leisure time, she was an avid bingo player at the Moose Club and was a member of the Canadian Club, both of Barre. She particularly cherished spending time with her two grandchildren.

    Barbara is survived by her companion for over 31 years, Ralph Perkins, of Barre; her son, Nicholas Garand, and his companion, Tara Byrd, of Barre; a grandson and a granddaughter; two sisters and six brothers; as well as the Ralph Perkins family, nieces and nephews.

    A time of visitation will be held at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury on Sunday, May 5, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m.
