BOLTON — A large sinkhole that opened up on Interstate 89 northbound in Bolton on Tuesday is expected to affect traffic for part of today.

Vermont State Police said the sinkhole is in the passing lane. Drivers were warned Tuesday afternoon to prepare for delays because the lane had been closed. Repairs by the Agency of Transportation were expected to take several hours. State police said the lane closure would remain in effect through Tuesday night and into today.

The hole is said to be near mile marker 69, between exits 10 and 11.
