    Green Up Day is

    coming right up

BARRE — Vermont’s 43rd annual Green Up Day is May 4.

Green Up Vermont says thousands of volunteers around the state will cometogether on this day to clean up trash from roadsides and public places.

According to Green Up Vermont, the first Green Up Day was launched in1970 by Governor Deane C. Davis, three days before the first Earth Day.

The non-profit organization said in a statement, “People of all ages andall walks of life take part. It’s great for families to involve young

children to learn at an early age the effects of littering.”

Green Up Vermont says those looking to volunteer can go towww.greenupvermont.org, check with your town office, or call Green Up Vermont at 800-974-3259.
