• Vermont Castings Group being sold to investor

    Vermont Castings Group is being sold to a financial investor, the company announced Wednesday.

    “We are pleased to be moving forward with the sale of Vermont Castings Group to a high-quality financial buyer,” said Dan Clifford, president and CEO of Vermont Castings Group.

    “The combination of our strong brands and products, a solid team and an aggressive growth strategy with this additional investment will ensure continued success in both the short and long term.”

    Based in Paris, Ky., Vermont Castings Group was formerly known as Monessen Hearth Systems Company. The company adopted the Vermont Castings name to reflect its well known premium brand of wood stoves.

    The Vermont Castings brand maintains manufacturing and offices in Bethel and Randolph.

    The Riverside Company, announced in February that it had elected to exit its investment in Vermont Castings Group. Riverside acquired the company in 2006.
