    We the people

Regarding the letter to the editor April 10 in which Mayor Thomas Lauzon answered a recent letter writer. He responded, “I don’t welcome attacks on my city, especially when one plays fast and loose with the facts.”

The fact is that I and others feel that Barre is not the mayor’s city; it is our city, as in “we the people.”

We vote, we shop, we pay taxes and so on. Bringing revenue into the community through new businesses is great. But with that in mind, there are plenty of empty buildings that can be used for that purpose. I feel Mr. Lauzon is blurring the lines when it comes to being a developer and the mayor at the same time.

Barre can be a nice city for all to enjoy so long as we the people welcome change and contribute to what we have at hand to make this a better place for everyone.

Barre is Barre, no matter what way you look at it. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.
