    Man cited on cruelty charges

BRADFORD — Vermont State Police say a Bradford man slept while his 22 month old child wandered out of the apartment and into the street Thursday morning.

Aaron P. Rivers, 27, was cited for cruelty to children after his child was found standing in the middle of Maple Street around 8:30 a.m. wearing pajamas and a soiled diaper. A passerby saw the child, took it inside a house and called state police.

The father was later located in his second-story apartment and told state police he was sleeping and never heard the child leave.

Rivers is scheduled to appear in Orange County criminal court on June 5 to answer the charge.
