Checkpoint results indicate drinkers not driving
BARRE — The Washington County Sheriff’s Department said deputies stopped 41 vehicles at sobriety checkpoints conducted Friday in central Vermont but found no drunken drivers.
The department focused on Barre, Berlin, East Montpelier, Montpelier and Plainfield.
Deputies said they found one person driving without a license, one driver without registration, one who didn’t have a license and one who had a graduated license and had too many passengers. No one was found driving under the influence. The department also issued 38 warnings for various violations.
In the news release, the department thanked the central Vermont community for using designated drivers, as two of the vehicles stopped had sober drivers who were accompanied by intoxicated passengers.MORE IN This Just InThe Associated Press Full Story
