• Barre Police Log: Man found with note written in blood

    The following is a sampling of calls to Barre police in recent days.



    April 1

    A two-car accident occurred on Merchants Row around 10 a.m. No injuries were reported.

    A man stole a womanís food stamps on North Main Street.

    A wallet was found at the park and ride in South Barre and turned in to the police station on Fourth Street.



    April 2

    Someone driving a white Dodge truck was taking metal out of a Dumpster on Clark Street.

    A two-car accident occurred on North Main Street around 12:45 p.m. No injuries were reported.

    A cat was abandoned in an apartment on Averill Street.

    Two people were trying to break into construction trailers on Merchant Street.



    April 3

    A white Toyota Corolla was parked partly in the roadway on South Main Street.

    Someone stole an inspection sticker off a vehicle on Bromur Street.

    It was believed a red car was parked on Laurel Street to buy cocaine.



    April 4

    A probation officer found a large amount of marijuana on a probationer on Seminary Street.

    On Washington Street, a cellphone was stolen in the Aldrich Public Library.

    A woman on Maple Avenue had her EBT card stolen and it was returned with $100 missing from it.



    April 5

    A two-car accident occurred on King Street around 7:30 a.m. No injuries were reported.

    A man punched another man in the back of the head on Blackwell Street.



    April 6

    A man was intentionally setting off his car alarm on Summer Street.

    On Hill Street, a man driving a truck pulled up behind a womanís vehicle and slightly pushed it twice.

    A 6-year-old flipped off a woman who told the child to get out of the road while riding bikes.

    On North Main Street, a man was passed out in a womanís living room with beer bottles strewn all around and a ďnastyĒ note written in his own blood.

    Someone called a North Main Street restaurant and asked if it wanted to purchase a dead cat. The caller then ordered food from the restaurant.

    An engagement ring was stolen from Shurtleff Place.



    April 7

    A fence was knocked down intentionally on Vine Street.

    On Prospect Street, a small short-haired dog was running loose.

    A tree was down on wires on Cambria Street.



    The following is a sampling of citations Barre police issued in recent days.

    On April 4, Christopher W. Corrigan, 24, was cited on a charge of violating conditions of release.

    On April 5, Charles Hurley, 35, was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license. He is to appear in Washington County criminal court May 9 to answer the charge.
