Winifred O. Burrington Rites
BARRE TOWN — The funeral service and celebration of life for Winifred Olive (Montgomery) Burrington, 87, was held on Friday, April 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre. A former Barre Town and Burlington resident, she died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.
The service was led by son Norman Burrington Jr. and Winnie’s nephew, Bishop Jason Sanderson. Winnie’s daughter Barbara Burrington was instrumental in the funeral arrangements and writing of the obituary.
Words of tribute and remembrances were offered by Winnie’s children Norman Burrington Jr., who also read the poem “Perspectives,” Thomas Burrington, Stephen Burrington, who also read “The Irish Funeral Prayer,” Patricia Carbee, Jeanne Hommel and Kathleen Tucker.
The hymns “Ave Maria” and “Amazing Grace” and the songs “Always” and “What a Wonderful World” were played. Son Stephen Burrington played on the guitar and sang “May the Circle Be Unbroken.”
Entombment took place in the Hooker and Whitcomb Vault to await burial with full military honors in the Woodmont Cemetery in East Burke.
Following the service, family and friends gathered at the Hilltop Restaurant on Quarry Hill for a time of sharing and refreshments.
