HYDE PARK – The Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department has cited a Barre man for burglary in Hyde Park Thursday.

The sheriff’s department says Michael Jenkins, 21, broke into a residence on Route 100. The homeowner came home and found Jenkins and he ran out of the house and drove off in the homeowner’s truck. The sheriff’s department says Jenkins drove the truck into a swamp and fled on foot, but was found later at a residence where he claimed to have fallen through ice.

Jenkins was cited for burglary, aggravated operating without the owner’s consent and leaving the scene of an accident. He was lodged at the Northeast Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.
