Work to start on Windsor bridgeApril 06,2013
WINDSOR — Construction is starting soon on replacing a bridge in Windsor which will result in some slowdowns on Interstate 91.
A spokesman for the project’s general contractor said the bridge, which crosses Route 44, was built as part of the original highway construction project between 1958 and 1965. It has passed its design life of 50 years.
The Valley News reported that the $20.6 million project is being paid for by 90 percent federal funds and a 10 percent state match.
The southbound span is scheduled to be replaced this year and the northbound bridge will be replaced in 2014.
Closure of the southbound lanes of the interstate will probably begin at the end of this month. Single-lane traffic also will be expected.MORE IN This Just InMONTPELIER — The 22 water systems in Vermont that draw from Lake Champlain are participating in a... Full Story
