Idalo C. Masi Sr. Rites
BERLIN — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Idalo “Charlie” Masi, Sr., 88, of Berlin on Monday, April 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. He passed away on March 24, 2013, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.
The Rev. Leopold J. Bilodeau, pastor of the church, was the celebrant.
Crucifer, Fred Letourneau, was altar server and led the Prayer of the Faithful.
Words of remembrance were offered by Christopher Masi, son.
Organist and soloist, Rosemary Badeau accompanied vocalists, Romeo Bilodeau and Ronald Routhier in the hymns, “Alleluia, Alleluia,” “Shepherd Me, O God,” “Your Words, Lord, Are Spirit and Life,” “One Day At a Time,” “Ave Maria,” “Song of Farewell” and “Alleluia, Sing to Jesus.”
Scripture readings from the Old and New Testaments were read by Heidi Masi, daughter-in-law.
Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Sierra Masi, granddaughter; Gino Masi, grandson; A.J. Foster, great-grandson; and Lily Dubuque, step-great-granddaughter.
Burial was in Hope Cemetery in Barre, where Father Bilodeau offered Committal Prayers.
Military Honors were accorded the deceased by the Military Funeral Detail of the Vermont National Guard of Colchester. Taps were sounded. The American Flag was folded and presented to Diana Cestaro, sister of the deceased.
Following the burial, family and friends gathered at the Hilltop Restaurant on Quarry Hill Road in Barre, for a time of fellowship and luncheon.
