Laurette G. Thiverge Rites
BARRE CITY — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Laurette G. Thiverge, 87, of Howard Street on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. She passed away on March 28, 2013, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.
The Rev. Leopold J. Bilodeau, pastor of the church, was the celebrant.
Crucifer, Fred Letourneau was altar server and led the Prayer of the Faithful.
Words of remembrance were offered by Julie Bliss, daughter.
Organist and soloist, Rosemary Badeau accompanied vocalists, Romeo Bilodeau and Ronald Routhier in the hymns, “Be Not Afraid,” “Father of Peace,” “Your Words, Lord, Are Spirit and Life,” “Here I Am Lord,” “Lead Me Lord,” “Ave Maria,” “Song of Farewell” and “On Eagles Wings.”
Scripture readings from the Old Testament were read by Solange Thiverge, sister-in-law, and Linda Wadkins, a niece, read scriptures from the Old Testament.
Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Pam Thiverge and Jocelyn Thiverge, both daughters-in-law; Scott Bliss, son-in-law, Christina Thiverge, granddaughter, and Buffy Thiverge, daughter-in-law.
A prayer service was held Monday evening at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre, and was led by the Rev. Daniel Lokanga, Parochial Vicar of St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. The Rev. Leopold J. Bilodeau also led a prayer service on Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Jerimy Thiverge and John-Marc Thiverge, both grandsons; Danielle Schneider, granddaughter; Pierre Grenier and Danny Grenier, both nephews; and Gilles Lavigne, brother-in-law.
A later burial will be held in St. Sylvester Cemetery in Lower Websterville, Vt.
Following the Mass, family and friends gathered at the Barre Elks Lodge # 1535 in Barre for a time of fellowship and luncheon.
