• Autism fundraiser set for Saturday
     | April 05,2013

BARRE Its not too late to reserve a seat at an increasingly popular annual fundraiser hosted by an organization that helps Vermont families with autistic children.

We still have tickets available, said Randy Lamberti, chairman of the Autism Puzzle Foundation, which will be hosting its annual Casino Night at the Barre Municipal Auditorium on Saturday.

Tickets wont be available at the door, which opens at 5 p.m., according to Lamberti, who said residents interested in attending, making donations or both must do so by visiting the organizations website, vtautismpuzzle.org, by the end of business today.

Though Casino Night is the theme for an event that has raised roughly $300,000 in the past eight years, playing games of chance with card-dealing race car drivers from Thunder Road International Speedbowl is only one aspect of the event. It also features a benefit dinner, silent auction and live auction.

Last year, Lamberti said, the event raised roughly $40,000, and $38,000 of it was distributed to 88 families with autistic children to help pay for everything from iPads and therapeutic horseback riding lessons to summer camp.
