HARDWICK — Police say a 5-year-old child died after being left unattended in the bathtub in Hardwick on Thursday.

Police say CPR was administered and the child was taken to Copley Hospital in Morrisville and then to Fletcher Allen Health Care, where he was pronounced dead Friday. An autopsy was performed, but police say the cause of death is still pending and an investigation is ongoing.

The child’s name has not been released.
