ST. JOHNSBURY — The attorney general’s office says nine Cumberland Farms stores have been issued notices of violation regarding the monitoring of underground gasoline storage tanks.

The office said the 39 violations happened between 2005 and 2010.

Cumberland Farms negotiated a court-approved settlement in which the company admitted to the violations and agreed to pay a civil penalty of $150,000. It must also undertake a compliance plan to ensure the company follows state regulations regarding underground gas storage tanks.

The Agency of Natural Resources found the violations during regular inspections of Cumberland Farms facilities in Barre, Montpelier, Morrisville, Northfield, Fairlee, Lyndon, Newport, St. Johnsbury, and Woodstock, the attorney general’s office said.
