• Remains confirmed as missing Vermont man, friend

    KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine ó The Maine medical examinerís office says human remains found on an island off Kennebunkport were two boatbuilding school students who went missing in December.

    Spokesman Mark Belserene said Tuesday that DNA tests confirmed the remains were 21-year-old Zachary Wells, of Burlington, Vt., and 23-year-old Prescott Wright, of Barnstable, Mass.

    Wells and Wright were last seen at a late-night party at Wellsí home in Kennebunkport on Dec. 20. The men were students at The Landing School in Arundel.

    In the ensuing search, officials found clothing belonging to the two men but didnít locate their bodies.

    A local resident walking a dog discovered the remains last month on Vaughnís Island, which can be reached from the mainland at low tide.
