$597,756 — $56,888, or 10.5 percent, more than this year’s budget of $540,868, both not including special articles.
Doty Memorial School budget
$1,198,444 — $61,007, or 5.4 percent, more than this year’s budget of $1,137,437. Negotiated salary increases accounted for $21,152 of the increase, which doesn’t include horizontal increases. The net increase on taxes is 2.52 percent largely due to special education reimbursement.
U-32 High School budget
$14,101,074 — $506,862, or 3.73 percent, more than this year’s budget of $13,594,212. Budget reflects a $140,389 reduction in the debt service payment on the school bond and $398,058 in increased costs associated with negotiated salaries and benefits for the faculty and staff at U-32 High School. Transportation costs are expected to climb by almost $37,000 and the budget includes funding for a paraeducator and several part-time positions.
The fate of the U-32 budget will be collectively decided by voters in Berlin, Calais, East Montpelier, Middlesex and Worcester.
To see if the voters of the town of Worcester shall increase the 2013 Veterans’ Exemption (for disabled veterans per the Veterans Administration) in the amount of $10,000 to the amount of $20,000, said exemption amount to be voted on every year.
To see if the town shall appropriate the sum of $17,525 for the support of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library?
To see if the town shall appropriate the sum of $950 for the support of the Montpelier Senior Activity Center?
Shall the voters of the town vote by Australian ballot to authorize any surplus funds that are available after the U-32 school district’s books are audited later this year be placed in a reserve account that can be spent at the discretion of the U-32 school board?
@Body Ragged Right:One Select Board position for a three-year term, a one-year and a three-year auditor position, and three lister positions, serving one-, two- and three-year portions of a three-year term.
A floor meeting will occur at 9:30 a.m. March 5 and elections will occur from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. by Australian ballot.
