BURLINGTON — A planning commission has secured a $3,600 state grant to help restore a polluted brook between Burlington and South Burlington.

The Winooski-based Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission says the Centennial Brook is impaired because of pollution-laden storm runoff and erosion.

The commission plans to use the grant, as well as $91,000 from local holders of stormwater permits, to fund strategies to prevent or lessen the effects of runoff.

It’s looking into rain gardens and other techniques.
