Best spot for wind turbines

My fourth-grade class is studying about wind turbines. When I saw a picture on the computer of wind turbines on the mountains, I said, “They don’t look good up there!” Then I said to my teacher, “They should be on farms.” She showed me John Sales’ letter to the editor in the Jan. 2 Times Argus. John Sales agreed with what I think.

I think turbines should be on farms, not near animals, but in cornfields or hayfields. John Sales wrote in The Times Argus, “In a farmer’s field a turbine might displace a cow or one row of corn equivalent, but not much more.” If we put turbines on mountains we are going to have to displace a lot of trees and lose air. If Vermont were to put more turbines in, I think they should be on Champlain Valley cornfields or hayfields. The Champlain Valley winds are as high as on the mountains, according to John Sales.

In my opinion, if Vermont were to keep on building turbines they should be on the Champlain Valley farms because there is about the same amount of winds and we don’t have to cut down trees.
