MARSHFIELD — Members of the VT Road Runners are organizing a virtual 5K for runners and walkers in conjunction with the Sandy Hook Run for the Families. The actual race, which recently was relocated from Danbury, Conn., to Hartford to accommodate more participants, is scheduled for Saturday, March 23.

Local runners or walkers can register as a “virtual runner” at www.hartfordmarathon.com/Events/Sandy_Hook_Run_for_the_Families.htm and, if they would like the group race experience, gather at Montpelier High School on March 23. Start time is 10 a.m.

The registration fee is $25 for virtual runners until Feb. 28, then increases to $30. All proceeds go to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Contact April Farnham at oneaprilmorning@aol.com for more information about the local event or visit the VT Road Runners Facebook page for updates.
