Hypocritical argument

In Rob Korobkin’s letter to the editor advocating licensing of illegal alien workers failed to make his point with me. I believe sanctioning the licensing of illegal immigrants without acknowledging that their labor is basically slave wage service is reprehensible.

If Vermont legislators are so worried about Vermont farms and their income issues why don’t they take a positive action to address that problem rather than endorse a modified pre-Civil War like workforce? Are we to bless the use of a workforce that gets paid less than a local burger joint’s government-mandated minimum wage only because they work for a farm and they’re illegal?

If any other Vermont business attempted this they would be brought before the court post haste and the unfortunate worker deported. The hypocritical attitude here absolutely reeks. The state of Vermont should not be a party to the reintroduction of the South’s “peculiar institution” in any form.
