ALBURGH Vermont State Police say four Grand Isle County residents are facing charges of stealing more than $200,000 worth of gold coins from a vacant house after the eccentric owner had died in a farm accident.
Authorities have arrested 32-year-old Jennifer Jarvis, 35-year-old Ricky Benjamin and 52-year-old Mark Mumley, all of Alburgh, and 41-year-old Shawn Farrell, of Swanton, on possession of stolen property and other charges.
Theyre accused of breaking into a home that has been vacant for several months after the owner died and stealing the coins.
Police said Thursday that they sold the coins, ranging in value from $350 to $1,800, to coin and jewelry dealers around Chittenden County.
So far, police have recovered $5,000 worth of coins. More arrests are expected.MORE IN Central VermontThe Middlebury College audience was treated to truly expert chamber music playing Friday at the... Full StoryThe state's new recycling law has been in effect for three months. Full Story
