• Waterbury election petitions due soon
     | January 25,2013

WATERBURY — Candidate petitions are due by 5 p.m. Monday for Waterbury village and trustee positions.

Candidates for village positions need 12 signatures, and those running for town positions need 30 signatures. Forms are available at the municipal offices at the Main Street fire station.

Waterbury has an opening for the Waterbury Town School Board because incumbent Scott Mackey is not seeking to keep his seat.

The three-person board’s purpose is to serve as a backup to the Harwood Union School Board when replacements are needed to fill vacancies there, according to Mackey. The town board’s members serve three-year terms.

Residents aren’t allowed to provide a signature to two or more candidates seeking the same seat.
