WATERBURY — A 23-year-old mother who is accused of hitting her baby this month in her home is to face a domestic assault charge Feb. 14 in criminal court, village police said.

Kaiya L.H. Andrews, of North Main Street in Waterbury, told a social worker she hit her newborn daughter because the girl was crying and Andrews had a migraine, according to Waterbury Police Chief Joby Feccia.

The baby was born Dec. 11.
