• Defend our right to guns
    January 24,2013

    Dear Mr. Welch,

I understand you are supporting President Obama, in his quest to strip all Americans of their unalienable individual right to bear arms.

The Founding Fathers of our union made sure we were guaranteed specific rights to protect us from the federal government’s infringement of those rights, as cited in the first 10 amendments to the Constitution.

Obviously you recall the oath you took when you became our representative to Congress, at which time you swore and/or affirmed to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and became the people of Vermont’s representative (agent). We rely upon you to be our voice and expect you to protect us, from the violations by those who would attempt to deny us those rights.

However, Mr. Welch, the position you have recently taken, as stated in your letter of Jan. 4, 2013, to Mr. William Tufts, and I quote, “I intend to work with the President and Congress to support legislation that would place restrictions on the sale of assault weapons and limit high-capacity ammunition clips,” you clearly and unequivocally dismiss your solemn oath, to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and to protect us your constituency of the infringement of our rights.

Mr. Welch, I respectfully request you reconsider and amend your position and reaffirm your steadfast allegiance to upholding the U.S. Constitution, without equivocation and not support any changes unless done so in accordance with Article V.

I feel compelled to write this letter to you, my friend, however, should you remain a party to infringing upon the protections guaranteeing our individual rights, and rendering any gun illegal, which might have been purchased legally, you are not the representative of the people of Vermont. Your being a party to the illegal watering down of our Second Amendment rights, would give me cause to join with those who would work to have you impeached and expelled from public office.
