MONTPELIER — A simple assault charge from the weekend has been upgraded to aggravated assault, police said Monday.
Todd A. Ploof, 46, of Montpelier, was charged following a fight around 8 p.m. Friday in his River Street apartment with another man in which Ploof bit the victim, police said.
The victim received medical treatment and was released from the hospital, police said. Ploof also obtained medical treatment, which police characterized as an attempt to stall going to jail.
Ploof was being held at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury over the weekend and as of Monday night. He will answer the charge in court Tuesday.
Following the incident, the victim left a River Street residence late Friday night and met with police at the front of the House of Tang restaurant, police said.
Police did not describe the victim’s injuries, citing health privacy law.MORE IN Central VermontBARRE — You’ve got to wake up pretty early in the morning to crack 320 dozen eggs and Mike...
