MONTPELIER — The Rally for Life, an anti-abortion advocacy event, will take place Saturday at the Statehouse after a march down State Street.

The rally marks the 40th anniversary of the landmark 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion.

The event features guest speaker Melissa Ohden, whose mother underwent a type of abortion procedure in 1977 known as a saline instillation. Ohden survived with the help of a nurse and was later placed for adoption.

Participants will gather at 10:45 a.m. behind City Hall in Montpelier, march down State Street to the Statehouse for opening remarks, then proceed to the House chamber to hear speakers.
