Most Vermonters want wind power
In response to “Two senators want to halt wind projects”:
Recent calls for a moratorium on wind power production are highly misguided and sorely misrepresent the ideals of nearly 70 percent of Vermonters.
The effort to suspend new wind power production, led by Sens. Robert Hartwell and Joe Benning, represents only a small but vocal minority of Vermonters.
By taking up the effort to stop wind power production, Sen. Hartwell and Sen. Benning are acting against Vermont citizens’ interest, going directly against what they promise they’d do when officially sworn into office.
The reasons why Vermonters support wind power are clear.
Beyond being the responsible thing to do, wind power invests in long-term jobs in Vermont, has boosted our state economy, and is helping to move farther away from dirty and dangerous sources of energy.
A moratorium on one of the most benign sources of renewable energy available right here in Vermont is a crippling move that undermines decades of progress.
