• GMP warns of phone scam
    January 09,2013

Green Mountain Power is alerting customers to a telephone scam.

The utility said several small businesses in the Rutland area received phone calls Monday evening from someone using a blocked number but claiming to represent GMP.

The caller requested business owners to provide credit card information to pay their account balances, threatening to disconnect their power if they did not pay.

GMP officials say they have not made such calls. Anyone who gets such a call is asked to notify police and warned not to provide the caller with any personal information.
