    MANCHESTER — Sarah “Cinders” Cheney Norris, died peacefully on Jan. 2, 2013, in her home at Equinox Village in Manchester.

    Cinders was born in Cooperstown, N.Y., on Dec. 13, 1925, the daughter of Henry R. Mallory and Margaret Ussher Mallory, also of Cooperstown.

    She was a graduate of Havergal College-Toronto Girls School in Canada, and the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston.

    Cinders loved her home in Landgrove, where she lived for 35 years.

    She is survived by her daughter Alice G. Cheney, of Warren; her grandson Justin Cheney, of Clearwater, Fla.; and her husband Edward Norris, of Woodstock. Cinders was predeceased by her sisters Margaret Mallory Dominic, of Sharon, Conn., and Joan Mallory Reeves, of Georgetown, S.C.; her daughter Sally Ussher Cheney; her son, Henry Cheney; and her husband Benjamin Cheney.

    A private memorial service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Farmington, Conn.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain Valley Medical Center, 38 Route 11, Londonderry, VT 05148; or Manchester Health Services, 5468 Main St., Manchester Center, VT 05255.
