New Vt wind project online in time for tax credit
GEORGIA — The Georgia Mountain wind project is online and making power in time to take advantage of an expiring federal tax credit.
The Georgia Mountain Community Wind farm announced Monday its four turbines in the towns of Georgia and Milton are fully operational and capable of providing about 8 percent of the electricity used by the Burlington Electric Department.
Burlington Electric and Georgia Mountain have signed a long-term power supply contract.
The 10-megawatt project is expected to produce about 27 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year.
