Noodle Station, a noodle bar, and a frozen yogurt bar called Swirl & Pearl are scheduled to open on Lebanon Street in Hanover, NH.
Proprietor Samantha Chu said the 3,500-square-foot eateries under her management will share a common passage, so that a diner can enjoy an Italian pasta or Asian noodle dish with a choice of Mediterranean and Asian sauces on one side, before shifting to a selection of eight frozen yogurts that can be capped off with 50 toppings.
The eateries will also share some 30 seats inside; another 30 seats on the patio will be available in warm weather.
The pastas and sauces at Noodle Station are combined with sautéed vegetables from a vegetable bar and made to order for each client. Patrons can also purchase an Asian drink called Bubble tea that takes its name from tiny tapioca balls, or bubbles, in the liquid. This drink comes in many flavors and is typically served iced or blended, Chu said.
The self-serve yogurts will be priced at 55 cents per ounce, inclusive of toppings. The pastas will run between $10 and $12.
Chu and her husband, Christopher Gale, who is also involved in these restaurant start-ups, are graduates of Vermont Technical College. She majored in business management and technology; he majored in architectural engineering. Her restaurant experience dates to when she was two years old and her parents, Peter and Nina Chu, began operating The China Station in 1988 in the Upper Valley.
“I think there’s a great opportunity for a business to succeed here,” said Chu, who plans to hire a staff of 10.
