BURLINGTON — Two men have pleaded not guilty to charges that they assaulted and robbed a University of Vermont student in a college parking lot last week.
Police say 18-year-olds Eli Baron and Michael Benedict of Pittsburgh, Pa., beat up 19-year-old Jarrett Clark of Vergennes the night of Dec. 3 while trying to steal LSD from him. The men said Clark then stabbed them.
A police affidavit said Clark told police that he stabbed both men and gave up the LSD after a wounded Benedict held a knife to his throat.
The Burlington Free Press reported that Baron pleaded not guilty on Monday and Benedict pleaded not guilty on Friday to assault and robbery resulting in an injury.
