• Toy drive will benefit young patients

    MORRISVILLE — Local and state public safety departments are teaming up to collect toys for children at Vermont Children’s Hospital at Fletcher Allen Health Care.

    The Vermont State Police, the Burlington Fire Department and the Morrisville Police Department have launched the second annual Operation Fire Cuff.

    The event will be held Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. at the hospital, where presents will be delivered to the children by Santa and the public safety officials.

    The toy drive is accepting items including rattles, mobiles, musical toys, pop-up toys, trains, Legos, art kits, nail polish, journals and gift cards to places like Wal-Mart, Kmart, Best Buy and Hannaford.

    Donations need to be delivered by Dec. 12 to the state police barracks in Middlesex, 1080 U.S. Route 2, Middlesex, VT 05602.
