Wind power is the right choice
People say that unless you are born in Vermont, you can never be a true Vermonter. I have accepted that, but although I have only lived here a few short years, I have forged a connection with this land and the mountain ridgelines just as strong as any native Vermonter. Unless we want to see even more drastic weather patterns from the effects of human-induced climate change that can destroy our land and communities even further, we have to do our part in the fight against climate change by turning to renewable energy sources.
For Vermont, wind power is that source. Nuclear power is no longer a feasible energy option for us and solar panels are not as efficient as turbines. The temporary habitat alterations that the construction of wind turbines will have on our mountaintops is absolutely worth it in the long run. There are no hazardous emissions from wind turbines, and this is absolutely the cleanest, most efficient way for our state to produce energy. It is our responsibility to this state to shift our energy usage to renewable resources, and wind power is this solution.
