    John P. Menard Sr. Rites

    WILLIAMSTOWN — The Mass of Christian Burial for John Paul Menard Sr., 67, of Gilbert Road, was celebrated on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at 10 a.m. in St. Edward Catholic Church in Williamstown. He passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

    Rev. Kevin Rooney, former pastor of the church, officiated. Pianist and singer Pamela Roy accompanied singers, Karla and John Perkins, in the hymns, “Be Not Afraid,” “Here I Am, Lord,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Come To Me,” “Amazing Grace,” “Just A Closer Walk With Thee,” “How Great Thou Art,” “I Am The Bread Of Life” and “Let There Be Peace On Earth.” John’s grandniece, Amanda Beattie, sang the responsorial psalm.

    The eulogy was given by niece Donna Melendy. Readings from the Old and New Testaments were offered by niece Sandra Couillard and nephew Bruce Melendy. The offertory gifts were presented at the altar by grandchildren, Andrew, Nicole, Eric, Ashley and Alicia.

    Entombment took place in the Hooker and Whitcomb vault to await later interment in the St. Sylvester Cemetery in Websterville. The bearers were nephews, Dan Couillard and Rodney Graham, grandnephews, Matt Couillard and William Graham, and friends, James MacAskill and Robert MacAskill. Members of the Knights of Columbus Charles Jasman Assembly 1151 provided the Honor Guard.

    Following the Mass, family and friends gathered downstairs in the church’s hall for a time of sharing and refreshments provided by the Ladies of St. Anne.

    A prayer service was conducted by Rev. Monsignor Reid C. Mayo, former pastor of St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre, Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre.
