• Supplies sought for storm relief
     | November 10,2012

MONTPELIER — National Life Group is looking for supplies to deliver to those affected by Superstorm Sandy.

The company is looking for items such as canned or nonperishable food, sealed bottled water, soap, cleaning supplies, gloves (for cleaning and warmth), shovels, batteries, empty red gasoline containers, heavy-duty garbage bags (45- to 50-gallon contractor size), pet food, Rubbermaid-style containers and storage bins, can openers, baby formula, matches and lighters, and new blankets.

A truck will be parked in the company’s Montpelier campus parking lot Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Employee volunteers will then drive the supplies to Belmar, N.J.

“The devastation New Jersey and New York have experienced with Sandy is reminiscent of what we dealt with after Irene,” said Beth Rusnock, president of the National Life Group Charitable Foundation, in a news release. “This is our opportunity to pay it forward in terms of helping others who desperately need it.”
