EAST MONTPELIER — The final public hearing in advance of the Nov. 6 bond vote for renovations to East Montpelier Elementary School was rescheduled from Monday night to Friday due to the possibility of bad weather.

The hearing will be the final opportunity for the public to ask questions about the proposed $8.17 million project to bring the school into compliance with the fire code and make it handicapped-accessible, among other repairs and modifications.

In May, town voters rejected a proposed bond issue of more than $10 million for the project. A facilities committee then pared down the proposed changes to the facility and their cost to taxpayers.

The rescheduled hearing Friday will take place at the school starting at 6:30 p.m.
