Rites
BARRE TOWN — The service of remembrance and celebration of the life of Edward W. “Gibber” Gibbs, of Farwell Street, was held Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre. He died Oct. 20, 2012, at his home.
Longtime friend Ms. Leslie Walz led the service and extended greetings from his family to the congregation. Special prerecorded musical selections played were “I Did It My Way,” “Black and White,” “Dirt Road Anthem,” “If I Could Have a Beer With Jesus” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Nephew Seth Breer gave a reading, “Ode to a Mechanic,” and “The Hunter’s Prayer” was read by nephew Kevin Virge. Brothers Bernarr Gibbs Jr. and Jeffery Virge presented roses, carnations and poms to Gibber’s family while Ms. Walz conducted the passing of the flowers ceremony.
