BARRE — The life’s honor and celebration for Lucy Gomez McLaughlin, of Pike Street, was held Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre. She died Sept. 27, 2012, at the Rowan Court Health and Rehabilitation Center in Barre.
Laura Cadmus, pastor of the United Church of Cabot, led the ceremony. Soloist Paula Chiuchiolo sang “Amazing Grace” and the blessing “To Go in Peace” as well as led the congregation in the hymn “In the Garden.”
Grandniece Rachel Ornitz read from Scripture. Niece Paula McLaughlin and family friend Robert Haverick offered words of remembrance. Family friend Charlene McCarney read a favorite poem of remembrance.
The honorary bearers were Richard Fontana, Wayne Pelkey and Bruce Judd. The active bearers were nephews Peter A. Gomez, Michael Ornitz and George Fox and friends Jonathan Frattini, Michael Pelkey and Mark O’Hara.
Burial was made in the Hope Cemetery, where the Rev. Cadmus read the committal prayers and niece Alice Lavin spoke on behalf of her and her sisters.
Fellowship and luncheon followed at the Hilltop Restaurant in Barre Town.
Longtime friend Beverly Page read from Scripture and the Rev. Cadmus formed a circle of prayer at the funeral home on Friday evening.
