So, “No public value in airing texts,” eh? I think there was plenty of value in it, innocuous though those particular published texts may have been.
I find it galling to watch public meetings, in person or on cable, and see elected officials either texting each other or “consulting” their laptops while someone else is speaking. It’s the height of hubris, as was Mr. Hooper’s hand-wringing letter of apology/explanation. There is no explanation for this. The public deserves more focus and attention. Goodness only knows what has been texted in the past and what back door agreements have been forged before our very eyes without a single public word uttered.
I’m very grateful to Secretary of State Condos for squarely placing a frozen size 11 up against their collective butts. Also, kudos to you, Times Argus, for flipping over the rock so we can all see what’s underneath.
