GRANITEVILLE — David Herm Wild, 54, of Robar Road (Williamstown), died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Born on Dec. 14, 1957, in Barre, he was the son of George and Joan (Gill) Wild Sr. He attended Orange School and graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in 1976. Later he served in the Vermont Army National Guard.
On July 7, 1979, he married Darlene Harrington in the Hedding United Methodist Church in Barre. They made their home in Orange and later divorced in 2002. David then moved to Kingston, Wash., in 2003. After returning to Vermont, he resided at his present home in Graniteville.
In earlier years, David worked at the Barre city garage and for Mid-City Auto Repair in Poulsbo, Wash. For the past several years, he was employed by the Vermont Transportation Agency as a district mechanic at the Colchester Central garage.
David enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and fishing. His other interests were building and repairing anything that needed “fixing” for family or friends. He liked working on his home or his truck. He loved his dog, Jake.
Survivors include his former wife, Darlene Harrington, of Williamstown; two sons, Clinton Wild and his wife, Cheryl, and Gordon Wild, all of Barre; two grandchildren, Natalie Wild and Shelby Wild; a sister, Jean M. Edson, of Barre; a brother, George Wild Jr., of Orange; nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be held at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at 4 p.m. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
