Hoffer’s experience is what we need
Doug Hoffer, the Democratic and Progressive candidate for state auditor, is uncommonly well qualified for that job. He has 24 years of experience as a policy analyst in Vermont, including five years under contract to the state auditor.
Doug is the author of the Vermont Wage Gap Study which has guided state legislators in dealing with economic development, tax policy and the securing of a livable wage for Vermont workers. Even his Republican opponent has described Doug’s analytical skills as “a hot knife through butter.”
I saw the high quality of Doug’s work when he worked in the Community and Economic Development Office in Mayor Bernie Sanders’ administration, where I serve as city clerk. Sen. Sanders has endorsed Doug for auditor, saying that he “will make an outstanding auditor” and be “the kind of strong and effective watchdog we need in the auditor’s office.”
I couldn’t agree more. Doug Hoffer will be especially effective in bringing greater accountability to Vermont government and to the spending of our tax money.
