More junk mail isn’t a good idea
In response to the article “Embattled post office seeks more junk mail” in the Sept. 20 Times Argus, one strategy in dealing with junk mail is to write “Return to Sender” on the envelope and put the unopened junk mail back in the mail. Unfortunately, this only works for mail that is in envelopes. The postal service won’t return other types of junk mail.
I have been disgusted for years about the amount of resources wasted on junk mail — creating it in the first place, delivering it, and then processing its disposal.
The article mentioned that various communities throughout the country have set up Do Not Mail registries. I’m wondering if Vermont could set up a service like this or some other type of anti-junk-mail legislation.
If you want to try to reduce the amount of junk mail in Vermont, please contact your local state senator or representative and let them know this is something that you would like them to address.
