    October 03,2012

BRATTLEBORO — The brother of a Massachusetts man accused in a drug killing in southern Vermont has been sentenced to 12 years in prison on drug charges.

Federal prosecutors say 29-year-old Michael Caraballo of Holyoke, Mass., had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine as part of a plea deal. He was sentenced on Monday.

Court records say Caraballo sold several grams of crack and cocaine in Brattleboro in February and March of 2011. He’s also accused of shooting at and hitting a vehicle containing a drug customer. No one was injured.

His brother, 28-year-old Frank Caraballo of Holyoke, Mass., has pleaded not guilty to killing a woman during a drug deal in Dummerston last year. He’s been sentenced to nearly 17 years in prison on separate drug charges.
