MONTPELIER — To celebrate Banned Books Week, some Vermont writers will be reading from works that have been banned or censored.
The event on Thursday night in Montpelier is being sponsored by the American Civil Liberties Union of Vermont and Bear Pond Books of Montpelier.
Next week is the 30th anniversary of Banned Books Week, an annual event sponsored by the American Library Association aimed at highlighting the value of free and open access to information.
In Vermont, readers including poet, playwright and author David Budbill, writer and storyteller Willem Lange of East Montpelier, and author Katherine Paterson of Barre will read from banned or censored works on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church in Montpelier.MORE IN Vermont News
