    NORTHFIELD — Raoul Robert Tremblay, 95, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at the Berlin Health & Rehabilitation Center in Berlin. He was born in Glover on Aug. 1, 1917, the son of Thomas and Maria (Simard) Tremblay. He attended Middlebury High School.

    He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served in India and Burma.

    He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) prior to enlisting in the Army. He worked for several years at Sikorsky Helicopter in Connecticut, on various construction projects in Canada, and provided security service for a manufacturing mill in Northfield for 25 years.

    He was a member of the United Methodist Church, and a life member of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Northfield. He enjoyed snowshoeing, hiking and skiing at Bolton.

    Survivors include four siblings, Wilfred Tremblay of Maine, Lucille Stafford and Julliette Tremblay, both of Connecticut, and Gracie Gagnon of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.

    He is predeceased by five siblings, Marie Brennon, John, Roland, Joseph and Edgar Tremblay.

    There are no calling hours. A graveside service with full military honors to be accorded will be conducted Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center. Donations may be made in his memory to the Northfield Senior Center, 168 Wall St., Northfield, VT 05663.
