    Paul E. Kellett

WATERBURY CENTER — Paul E. Kellett, 88, of Maple Street, passed away in the comfort of his family Sunday morning, Sept. 16, 2012, at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. Born in Duxbury on Nov. 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Alderic and Annis (Ring) Kellett. On Oct. 13, 1945, he married the former Marilyn Fahner in Waterbury.

Paul was a 1941 graduate of Waterbury High School and then went on to serve his country during World War II in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre of Operations. Following his honorable discharge in 1945, Paul returned home and began a long career in the trucking business; first on his own in the greater Waterbury area and then later working as a driver for Chaplin Trucking, Hatch Trucking and then for over 37 years as a driver for Merrill Transport of Portland, Maine, from which he retired in 1988. Not one to be idle and social by nature, Paul worked at Billings Mobil Station in Waterbury for over 10 years where he kept in touch with old friends and made many new friends who grew to enjoy his wry humor and quick wit.

Ever proud of his military service, Paul was a member of VFW Post 10034 of Waterbury and served his community as a longtime Waterbury Fire Warden and was a member of the Waterbury Center Volunteer Fire Department.

Paul enjoyed camping, traveling to Florida in the winter months and was meticulous about his lawn and home. He is lovingly remembered for his care, concern and devotion to his family.

Paul is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Marilyn Kellett of Waterbury Center; their children, Wendy Nelson and her husband, Larry of Waterbury Center, and Peter Kellett and his wife, Candy of Waterbury Center; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; his sister, Bethany Morse of Burlington; his brother, Robert Kellett and his wife Maydene of Waterbury Center; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Paul was predeceased by three sisters, Kathryn Nichols, Evelyn Truax and Margaret Richardson, and a brother, Alderic Kellett.

Funeral services will be held at the Waterbury Center Community Church Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. with a reception to immediately follow. Burial with military honors will take place in the Waterbury Center Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted; rather memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Waterbury Ambulance Service, PO Box 95, Waterbury Center, VT 05677.
