Former Cabot man denies sex assault of boy
BARRE — A former Cabot man is accused of performing oral sex on a 13-year-old boy.
Henry E. Menard, 69, is charged with aggravated sexual assault, a felony. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $50,000 fine.
According to state police affidavits, Menard performed oral sex on the boy in three incidents during one week in the winter of 2005. Police say the incidents occurred at Menard’s home and the boy’s home, both in Cabot. Menard now lives in St. Johnsbury.
Vermont State Police say they learned of the incidents when a parent told them the boy had talked about the incidents.
State police say that during an interview with Menard, he eventually admitted to all three incidents.
Menard pleaded not guilty March 1 and is free on a $10,000 unsecured appearance bond. He was granted a motion July 20 to amend his conditions of release and allow him to travel to Chittenden County. Menard was already allowed to travel to Orleans and Lamoille counties and live in Caledonia and Washington counties.
